Marjorie Jeanette Arnade 1929 - 2012
Majorie passed away November 4th, 2012 at the age of 83. She was a well recognized figure in San Antonio, always working on making our town and safe and clean place.
She was the wife of the late Dr. Charles Arnade, a professor and Fulbright scholar. The Arnades are a large family and were able to travel and experience many cultures due to Dr Arnade's profession, who spent many of his 50 years in education at the University of South Florida. The couple had seven children, whom they raised in San Antonio. Marhorie and Charles both fought for civil rights and against poverty. Mrs. Arnade was a lifelong student and tireless worker, born of a Michigan dairy farm the day after the stock market crash of 1929.
Their family ' hosted, a a string of foreign exchange students, visitors, and friends. She was involved in events like the Coastal Cleanup and worked daily on keeping the streets of San Antonio free of litter. Employed as a reference librarian at the University of South Florida and Saint Leo University, Mrs. Arnade was acknowledged as an endless source of information about a variety of topics. Her son, Chris Arnade, is a photographer in New York City. Mrs. Arnade died at a hospice center in Wilmington, N.C. Arrangements in that area are being coordinated by Coble Ward-Smith funeral home; a local memorial service may be planned at a later date. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer about three months ago, Mrs. Arnade died Sunday (Nov. 4, 2012) in North Carolina. She was 83.
